Over the Hump Season Postponed
The Good News First: We will Race. The Bad News: Over the Hump Season has been Postponed till July; July 21st to be specific.
Why is OTH Racing Delayed till July 21, 2020?
The Elephant in the room seems to have sat on our couch. We were informed by OC Parks that racing was not possible in May, due to the Social Distancing and Group Gathering guidelines currently in place. That leaves us all in a wait and see mode. We’ll need to wait till California issues guidelines that we can adhere to in the wake of “it” (the disease we don’t speak of).
Here’s what we know:
- We will race as soon as we are able.
- We are waiting for California to “open”.
- The opening will be defined over the coming weeks.
- Initially small gatherings, then larger gatherings, based on Federal and State criteria.
So while we wait, here’s what we’re doing:
- Tuesday night OTH Happy Hour is here to help (LINK to 7pm Tuesdays Virtual Over the Hump Happy Hour– same link every week)
- We’re providing a weekly training regiment to help you stay fit, mentally and race tuned, for your first time at the line this summer. (Posted each Friday on Over the Hump Strava Club, Facebook, and Blog).
- We are going to race as soon as we can.
- Currently we are holding the July 21 date out there. If we can race earlier and longer we will. We want to race as many races as possible.
- Rather than keep a moving target on start date, we’ve chosen to stick to our original second half dates (until we know more…later we’ll modify from a known set of guidelines).
- We don’t know what you don’t know, so bear with us…but in the meantime we’re working to keep the Over the Hump community alive and vital.
How will credits be treated if you already registered?
- If you registered for any of the first 6 races, your races have automatically been moved to July 21, 28, etc.
- You may request that we transfer your credit to other races. Just email us your request: info@raceoth.com
- We want to race as many races as makes sense for all of us this summer.
- We’ll have a few extra weeks at the end of the typical season with Daylight Savings Time. We’ll wait to determine total number of races till government guidance becomes clear.
- Some ways we are able to apply credits: races, merchandise, parking, and future 2021 season; The challenge and the goal is to keep you with value and allow the series to live on into future years.
Thank you for being patient and flexible as we work together to navigate unknown waters. I cannot wait to celebrate summer together with you the only way I know how! Counting the minutes till we kick off the 2020 OTH Bike Party!
Take deep breathes with me, this is a momentary stall in the journey of life.
We’ll all line up at the start line. “5-4-3-2-FUN!”
See ya soon! –Matt

Greeting from Alabama! 😁 While California is shut down my 18 wheeler keeps on rolling. Been on the road two months straight since the pandemic due to supply chains needing to be kept up even more so now. Be safe, Miss my O.T.H peeps!
Glad you’re working brother, keep the pedal down and ride when you can! See you soon.
How will credits be treated if I have already registered for all 12 races?
Hi Carlos, thanks for the question.
We’ll approach your question in two phases:
1. How many races will we be able to facilitate?
2. Then we’ll determine value questions for season pass holders with things like merchandise, event parking included, etc.
We will offer comparable value and a clear plan as soon as we receive directives. Look forward to seeing you soon.
