24H MTB of Rome in the Aqueduct Park September 2013
Are you an expert biker looking for new challenges? Or a brave beginner willing to experience something new and exciting? Either way, MTB 24 Hours of Rome is the answer. The MTB 24hours of Rome is a relay race opened to everybody, from beginners to professionals, taking place from Friday the 13th to Sunday the 15th of September in the stunning location of Parco degli Acquedotti– a wonderful park in Rome that owns its name to an ancient Roman aqueduct still amazingly preserved.
The MTB 24hours of Rome is the perfect occasion to socialize and enjoy three days of sport, sunshine and history. Bikers and their partners will settle in the camping (included in the registration fee and totally free for partners) on Friday 13th September with tents and caravans, and they are offered the possibility to take part to one of the most beautiful rides in the world: “Pedalata nella storia- a Ride through History” that will take them through the centre of Rome, showing its most famous and wonderful monuments, streets, squares and landscapes. On Friday night there will also be a “Toga Bike Party” for an evening dedicated to music, pasta and fun.
The race starts on Saturday 14th September at 12 am and ends on Sunday the 15th at 12 am. Bikers can participate as agonistic (card-carrying) athletes in teams of 2, 4 or 8 people, or in the “solo” category for the bravest! There is also the “Lazybones- Fannulloni” category that allows even non expert, beginners or non agonistic bikers (only a medical certificate is required) to create a team up to 12 people and take part to this amusing and unique event.
Athletes race for 24 hours non stop in the mostly flat circuit that passes along the stunning Acquedotto Claudio; the bike lights (obligatory for riding at night) along with the special location make the atmosphere even more magic and unique. The Trophy “24h MTB S.P.Q.R. MMXII” (a Roman helmet) will be awarded to the athlete or team that has ridden through the most kilometres.
The MTB 24hours of Rome staff will help you find a team or build your own one if you want to participate but don’t have companions, rent a bike and find a convenient accommodation in Rome if you are coming with your family or friends and they prefer not to stay in the Parco degli Acquedotti camping where all the bikers will stay.
