TREK’s Appollo Program Rolls Fast 29ers Superflys 2013
Trek’s lightest, fastest 29er ever: the 2013 Superfly SL hits the shelves soon.
The all-new Trek Superfly SL and Superfly 100 SL are the first products of the recently-declassified Apollo Program, and Trek’s lightest, fastest 29ers ever. The ground-up redesign took a completely new approach to bike development, and the results are impressive. Meet the people behind the Apollo Program, and the all-new Superfly.
The two key words on the 2013 TREK mountain bike line up are light and fast.
We believe it, and we were only on the 2012 and 2011 Superfly! We could cloud the waters with lots of words…bottom line – and unbiased first hand user experience, we second the “light” and “fast”.

I’m typically a trail bike rider, so it was with great interest I threw my leg over the Carbon 2012 Superfly . What I noticed immediately was super-efficient pedal power. No loss in acceleration, a quick roll down my street felt like my carbon road bike. The 29 inch tires hook up, hold the line, brake well, and on a fire road descent feel like the bike’s on rails. Climbing with 23 lbs and no pedal bob made the hardtail my favorite bike around the house, where fire roads and climbing 2500 feet in 9-11 miles is the standard fare.
John Russell, my cohort at Over the Hump, jumped on his Superfly demo. Here’s what he had to say, “The Superfly feels light and nible. I loved the acceleration out of tight corners, it was instantaneous. The bike climbs really well…and trust me I need all the help I can get”
So I guess the biggest question on our minds, is when do get our shot at that one? It’s going to be a fast 2013 for Trek.
