Follow the Orange Cones
We have had some questions during pre-riding about course marking and the difference between the blue and orange cones. Let’s clarify:
Orange Cones
Orange cones are used to mark all of the “adult” routes. What are the “adult” routes? Any and all of the races that start at 6:00pm.
Blue Cones
The blue cones are used to mark the kid’s route. You know, the little tykes on bikes. Some times they follow the adult routes and sometimes they don’t. During pre-riding, this can make things a bit confusing. Especially since the blue cones are laid out in higher concentration. This is to make sure the kids know where they are going during their race.
Why Do I Only See the Blue Cones During Pre-Riding?
Since the kid’s race takes place before the adult races, all routes are marked for pre-riding. The awesome people over at Linked Cycling are kind enough to design this course every week and pick up the blue cones before the adult races start every week. Thanks Linked!!
When in Doubt, Follow the Orange Cones
When you are pre-riding the course, just simply ignore the blue cones and follow the orange ones. When in doubt, Linked Cycling usually has members on course to let you know if you are going the wrong way.
Have fun out there!
