December 2024 Wraps up the Fall Series

December 14 wrapped up the Fall/Winter Series with Strait Acres Slalom and Over the Hump Mountain Bike Race at Irvine Lake. In 2024 there is a lot to celebrate.

Cash purse pro womens winners 1) Kialani Hines, 2) Dani Johnson, 3) Olivia Silva
2024 was the first collaboration between Strait Acres and Over the Hump to pull together the legendary brand of Kyle Strait, who just announced his retirement from Red Bull Rampage (he’s a two time winner of that iconic event and has competed more than anyone else alive).
Over the Hump also just completed 15 years of operation, backed by brands who have continued to lean into this grass roots community. Sponsors include presenting sponsor Mazda, Simple Green, Bike911.com, Rig’d Supply, Omega Accounting, Kawasaki, Specialized, Cannondale, Giant, Shimano, Linked Cycling, Better Bolts, Saris, Estate Services, Edge Nutrition, SSB, Pedal Industries, Rausch PT, Hot Shoppe Designs, Red Monkey, Action Sports Canopies, Kenda, Sock Guy, and Docent Brewing.

There’s so much to celebrate and look forward to in the coming years. It’s mind-blowing to think forward 15 more years to see what we will build together. But before we look forward too far, we’d be missing a huge opportunity to celebrate you and your fellow racers if we didn’t pause to point out the Simple Green Leaders of this season, along with the Strait Acres Podium placers and Pro Champion Belt winners.

Luca Commetti (left and second place in the Strait Acres Series), helps Austin Warren (1st Place) link up his champion series belt. Not shown 3rd place Parker Nishkian.
As the day went on RideRX entertained the kids with ramps and skills tools placed around the venue.

It has been a humbling ride to join you for the past 15 years. Because of your dedication and investment in this grass roots “Trailer Park Race” as Luke Wronski has coined Over the Hump, we are still doing what we do in 2024. Humbling because economic shifts, floods, fires, and pandemics have given us all plenty of reasons to lay down and die….and honestly, at times that has “felt” like the easier option, but we are not people who lay down and die. We are friends, mountain bikers, and fanatics, who lean into challenges. And I’m so glad we have. Enjoy the Wild Glass Photos below.
