Beginner Ride-A-Long and 360 Fly Cash Dash Next Week
You asked for it, you got it. OTH’s two big editions get added this week: Beginner Ride-A-Long and 360 Fly Cash Dash Short-Course.
What does that mean:
Beginners and Juniors, a select few of you, will be given the opportunity to have an Elite racer race alongside you. You’ll get during race coaching, encouragement, and the opportunity to meet someone who once was a beginner, now turned seasoned racer.
If you would like to be paired with a Ride-A-Long Coach for the Day, please apply here. *Keep in mind only 5-10% of our field is made up of Elite Racers, so if you don’t get paired up this time, we’ll have clinics and training opportunities for you in the future.
Elite Racers, you will be paired up with a beginner racer to show them the ropes and ride alongside, to help guide them through the night’s race. You’ll complete Two Laps with the beginners; Starting with them, and finishing with them. (There is no regular length Elite Race Tuesday, June 2).
Then, after all racers are off the course at 7:15 We will launch the 360 Fly Cash Dash Short-Course.
Scoring: Short Course will be scored same as any other race in the Elite Classes (we keep 9 of your best races out of 12 races for series points)
Who: Elite Racers will line up together (All 3 Classes Elite, Elite Masters, and Elite Women, but will be scored in their own category)
Length of Course: 1 Mile or less. Racers will complete 4 laps on the short course, winners will be awarded cash prizes for the top 3 places in their class. $1000 will be distributed across the classes each of the 360 Fly Cash Dash races.
Where: Irvine Lake, from the exhibit area across the “old” lagoon, in site for a majority of the lap. Spectators will have “moto-side” seats for this Superstar Battle of the summer with mountain bike motocross greats, current stars, and legends (even if it’s only in our mind).
Three ways to participate:
- Beginners & Juniors: enter your name to apply for riding with an Elite Racer Here (Click Here)
- Elite Racers: Ride-A-Long(side) and coach a Beginner. Help them find their pedal stroke, or gain some useful race tips. Then after you’re warmed up launch the superchargers. The short course will be a fast, flowy and spectator lined Bicycle Jockey Race.
- Everyone else: get our there and see the latest and newest addition to our multi-sensory Over the Hump experience. The 360 Fly Cash Dash Short-Course is going to be one that we talk about for the rest of the year.
- All other classes (except Elite) will be racing during the standard 6:00-7:00pm “Main Event” or 5:30 kid’s race…just like any other week.
Beginner Rules: Beginners you’ll race your 2 laps, as you always do, no changes.
Elite Rules: To Race the 360 Fly Cash Dash Elite Racers must participate in the Ride-A-Long
- In order to race the 360 Fly Cash Dash you will need to do the Beginner Ride-A-Long with a rider assigned to you before the main event race. You must cross the line with them, or if they do not finish, escort them to the DNF line and report together.
- After contestants have completed the beginner lap, and the course is clear, the 360 Fly Cash Dash will race.
- All other Over the Hump rules apply, you must stay on the course, and within the markings as delineated on the course, complete the four laps.
- Race will be scored on the finish order for your individual Elite Class (Elite, Elite Masters, or Women’s Elite), however you will be racing at the same time.
Join us as we write another new Chapter in the History of Over the Hump next week.
